Neymar Jr’s Five kicks off in Karachi

Karachi; January 5, 2018: The third edition of Neymar Jr’s Five kicked-off in Pakistan on January 4th, 2018 with Group Matches in Karachi. The tournament in 2018 will reach out to football enthusiasts across Pakistan, namely Karachi, Lahore, Islamabad, Multan, Faisalabad and Peshawar, with the intention to bring some of the best football players on one platform to showcase their skills.

A global five-a-side tournament that brings players from all corners of the world together to celebrate their shared passion ‘football’, Neymar Jr’s Five is fast, technical and fun. The tournament is played in more than 60 countries, including Pakistan since 2016.

Each match lasts only 10 minutes. When a team scores, the opposition loses a player. In 2018 the tournament is open to teams of five to seven players aged 16 to 25; in each team two players over 25 are allowed in the squad as well.

Over 100,000 players from 53 countries battled it out to be crowned World Champions in 2017 but in the end Team Romania were victorious; Pakistan side was represented by Highlanders F.C. In 2018, more than 60 countries will be hosting tournament qualifiers, in Pakistan the qualifiers are currently in-progress. During the month of December 2017 players from across Pakistan registered their team with the hope of making it through both qualifiers and national final in order to book a spot for their team for the World Final, which will be celebrated for the third time at Neymar Jr.’s Instituto Projeto Neymar Jr in Praia Grande, Brazil.
