Pakistan Steel rout Sindh Police [The News]

KARACHI: Tariq Junior hit a brace to enable Pakistan Steel to beat Sindh Police 3-0 in their Group A opener of the First Naya Nazimabad Quaid-e-Azam Departmental Football tournament here at the KMC Stadium on Tuesday.

Tariq hit two fine field goals in 23rd and 41st minutes to take the game away from Sindh Police. Nasir was the other goal scorer. He struck in the 31st minute. Sindh Police played well in the first half but wasted several chances.

The Group C game between Karachi Port Trust (KPT) and Bahawalpur’s Ashraf Sugar Mills (ASM) ended in a goalless stalemate with both sides taking one point each.

Both sides lost one player each through red card. KPT were reduced to ten men when their defender Akbar was sent off in the 43rd minute for pulling an ASM striker. ASM lost Nadeem in the 79th minute for double booking. He was shown first yellow card in the tenth minute.

On Wednesday (today), former national champions Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) face second-tier football outfit Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) in the only game of the day.

The event is being organised by District Football Association (DFA) South.
