PPL Champion K-Electric, KRL move to quarter-finals [Pak Observer]

Peshawar—Pakistan Primer League Champion Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) and leading team of the country Khan Research Laboratories (KRL) took berth into the quarter-finals after playing the last league of League round of the ongoing All-Pakistan Shama Challenge Football Cup being played here at Sumbal Khan Football ground, Qayyum Sports Complex on Friday.

Khalid Butt and Tanveer Ahmad of Pakistan Wapda graced the occasion as guests and before the start of the match the players were introduced to him. Organizing Secretary Basit Kamal and large number of football spectators were also present and witnessed the thrilling match.

In the first KRL secured a solitary goal victory against Pakistan Wapda in a thrilling match. KRL and Pakistan Wapda produced excellent attack which was largely enjoyed by the sitting spectators with their cheering hands.

It was in the 7th minute when Pakistan Wapda striker missed a golden opportunity when Fahim missed the target. Fahim travelled past three defenders and even the goal-keeper but he missed the target narrowly. It was in the 17th minute when center striker Shabbir succeeded in a scoring a beautiful goal from the 25-yard distance. The goal injected new vigor in the rank of KRL and it kept up pressure on the rival defence but they were not allowed by rival defence. Thus the first half was ended in favour of KRL at 1-0.

Pakistan Wapda tried their hard to level the goal and most of the time dominated the second session but KRL defence did not give much time to them to strike back. Thus KRL won the match by 1-0.

In the second match Karachi Electric Supply Corporation (KESC) shocked spirited PAF by 2-1 in another thrilling match. PAF took the lead in the 12th minute when center striker Mujahid slammed in a superb goal on the field attempt.

After taking lead, PAF put in more weight behind but failed to click as K-Electric fully dominated the proceeding and did not allow PAF to strike back.

At half-time PAF was leading by 1-0. It was the second session when KESC staged a strong comeback and scored two goals in the 57th and 77 minute through center striker Riaz to make the tally 2-1. PAF in the dying moments tried their hard to level the tally but they were failed and thus K-Electric won the match by 2-1.

The matches were supervised by Amin Ullah and Anwar Khan while Abdur Rehman, Syed Imtiaz Ali Shah and Alliuddin acted as deputy referees.—APP
