KP White, Islamabad play 2-2 draws in All-Pakistan Shama Challenge Football Cup [Frontier Post]

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa White held Islamabad to a 2-2 draw in the ongoing All-Pakistan Shama Challenge Football Cup being played here at Sumbal Khan Football ground, Qayyum Sports Complex on Monday.

Former Pakistan team skipper Zafar Iqbal was the chief guest on this occasion. Before the start of the match the players of both Islamabad and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were introduced to him. Organizing Secretary and ex-national team skipper Basit Kamal, international footballer Ajiz Ghafoor, Haji Hidayat Ullah of DFA Peshawar, officials, players and large number of spectators were also present.

The match was started on fast tempo and spirited Islamabad succeeded in talking an early goal lead when right winger Munir Ghauri slammed in a beautiful goal from the long distance. It was very superb goal as the ball scrolled into the net.

Munir Ghauri took the ball from the mid-fielder Zakir Ullah and zoomed quickly toward the rival goal-post. In the way he also dribbled past two defenders before dispatching the ball into the net by leaving KP White goal-keeper Usman guessing.

After taking lead, Islamabad dominated the proceedings and did not allow their rival from KP White who have also support of local crowd to play with free hands.

KP White on the other hands also tried their hard to level the tally but their forwards missed three easy goal scoring chances. Taimur, Sadam and Izhar in the 18th, 29th and 34th minute missed easy target with poor handling of the ball.

It was only in the dying moments of the first session when Islamabad slammed in another goal through center striker Salman on the field attempt and thus he made the tally 2-0 well before the half-time.

When the two teams came for grip again in the second session, Islamabad despite taking two goal leads lost an edge over the match and KP White succeeded in getting the position of the ball.

The front line of KP including skipper Siraj, Imdad, Alamgir and Wahid international in the forwards and Shakoor in the defence line played very excellent game by putting Islamabad under tremendous pressure.

KP White reduced the margin in the in the 66t minute when Alamgir netted a fine goal from his right position. It was good pass given by Wahid international to Alamgir who did nothing wrong in dispatching it into the net.

When KP White scored its first goal, they put in more pressure and it was in the 80th minute when Siraj, the skipper of the team netted a beautiful goal from the 25-yard distance. It was forceful kick, went straightly into the goal-post by giving no time to Islamabad goal-keeper Salman Rana to stop. Thus KP White leveled the tally 2-2.

Both Islamabad and KP White tried their hard to get any lead but they were failed and the match ended in a draw with both teams got one point each.

The match was nicely supervised by Amin Ullah while Anwar and Alliuddin acted as deputy referees while Qazi Asif acted as match commissioner.
