Dr Tariq elected new IFA president [Nation]

ISLAMABAD – PML-N Member National Assembly Dr Tariq Fazal Chaudry was elected as Islamabad Football Association (IFA) honorary president, while Rana Tanveer Javed finance secretary.

Tanveer also worked as Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) information secretary in the past and had vast knowledge of running football affairs. He is also president of Model Town Football Club, Humak. The long-anticipated decision was taken in the IFA executive committee meeting presided over by IFA chief M Saleem Ch.

It is pertinent to mention here that Dr Tariq was all set to take over as IFA top slot in the past, but certain changes in the PFF constitution denied him becoming IFA president. Earlier, Dr Fazalur Rehman was dethroned, as IFA voters moved no confidence motion against Dr Fazal.

It was also decided in the meeting that the IFA would organise football tournament next week. The matches will be played on Karachi Company and TNT soccer grounds.
