“I started football at the age of 4 because my father was a great footballer too. As a 4 year-old boy I started playing for the U-6 team and everything started from there,” added Bhatti while talking to FPDC.
The German youth setup, which is praised vociferously for their cultivation of young talents, saw Waaris play for a number of different sides but he really made a dent at U-17 level for Kickers Offenbach after netting 29 times in 19 games.

Now at 2nd Bundesliga side Kaiserslautern, Bhatti aims bigger.  “I want to become Pro in the German Bundesliga and make a career out of what i love doing.” While his recipe for success consists of talent, confidence and discipline, Bhatti also has another ambition; donning the Pakistan jersey and playing internationally for his country of origin.

“I would love to play for the country where my parents are from. Besides that I want to help football in Pakistan with my experience,” he adds.

Though football takes up most of his time, Waaris is keenly attached to the game and says he would “study sports” if he can’t carve out a career in the beautiful. But given his ambition and steady focus, the sky is the limit for the talented youngster.
