PFF facing financial crisis: Lodhi [APP]

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) on Thursday said the federation is facing many financial crisis due to the non-payment of funds from the Pakistan Sports Board (PSB).

Talking to APP, PFF Secretary Ahmed Yar Khan Lodhi said the PSB wants to implement the National Sports Policy on PFF which restricts the top office bearer to hold the office for more the two tenures. “But as the PFF is an affiliated body with FIFA therefore the implementation cannot be done as FIFA does not restrict its office bearer for two terms only,” he said.

Lodhi said if we implement the National Sports Policy then FIFA won’t recognize us which will be setback for the game in Pakistan. “We take funds from PSB but the international circuit of the federation is carried out through FIFA,” he said and therefore it cannot be done.

Lodhi said I request the concerned authorities and the PSB to release the funds of PFF for the smooth movement of the game in the country.

Lodhi said we will be hosting two international events here in Pakistan during the next year. “The AFC Under-23 Olympic qualifying rounds and South and Central Asian Under-14 Football Championship will be hosted here,” he said adding the PFF will also host the 2017 SAFF Men Football Champion.

Lodhi said the PFF is trying its every bit effort for the betterment of the game in the country. “The 3rd SAFF Women Soccer Championship 2014 that was held here in Islamabad is an example that our country is not behind to host international events,” he said adding the countries that visited here had went back to their countries with a positive message that Pakistan is a safe country.
