KARACHI: KESC captain Essa Khan commended the initiative of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) technical director Mohamed Shamlan who proposed a week-long break in the Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL).

Khan said that a respite was necessary for all the 16 teams in the tournament.

“A break is good for the teams because many players suffer injuries during the five-month tournament,” Essa told The Express Tribune. “It’s time to recuperate from all the exhaustion.”

He added that the training camp that Shamlan is conducting in Lahore to unearth new talent for the national team is a laudable effort.

“Shamlan is a very professional coach,” said Essa. “His decision to hold the camp with players that he picked from the league shows that he wants to bring new talent in the national side. He wants results and is working hard.”
