The 8th HBL Karachi United Schools Championship 2013 saw both semi-finals held at Baloch Mujahid Stadium in Ibrahim Hyderi, Karachi yesterday, 22 March 2013. PTV Sports broadcasted the games live.
Defending champions Nixor College and The City School PAF Chapter both reached the KUSC final after winning their respective games. Final will be held today, Saturday 23 March 2013, at same venue.
Nixor College breezed past Aga Khan Higher Secondary School 3-0. Muzammil Farishta scored from 20 yards out in 16th minute, followed by back to back goals by Shehriyar Shah (21′) and Mehmood Ali (22′) to help Nixor lead 3-0 in first half. No further goals happened in 2nd half as Nixor College held on to reach the final with ease.
In 2nd semi-final, City School PAF counted their fortunes as they trailed 0-1 to Southshore after Nabeel Baloch’s long range effort in the 10th minute for most of the game. In the final seconds of normal time, Bilal Haider pounced on a mistake by Southshore goalkeeper to equalise for City School PAF and force extra time.
Moiz Khan then headed home a corner in extra time to make it 2-1 for City School before getting sent off by referee Saleemuddin Babar in 67th minute for a second yellow card. City School held on for a memorable comeback win in the end to reach the KUSC final.
