KMC Futsal Cup round-up

KARACHI: Aga Khan Gymkhana West thrashed FC Malir 3-1 to reach the quarter-finals stage of the KMC Day and Night Futsal Championship at Kashmir Road sports complex on Tuesday.

Muhammad Irfan devastated the FC Malir, netting all three goals, completing the third hat-trick of the tournament.

The solitary goal for FC was scored by Irfan Junejo. Five other teams have also reached the last-eight stage.

Shaheed Khaliq edged Baghdad Sports 2-1 after a close encounter. Dilmurad played well and scored twice for his team. Zubair Baloch netted the single goal for the losing side.

In a high-scoring match, Shaheed Usman Baloch FC Malir bundled out Young Aziazabad 5-2.

Ayaz Baloch scored a hat-trick for the winners, while Noor Bux and Saifullah scored one goal each. Muhammad Ali netted two goals, but could not save his team from the defeat.

The match between Mahfoze Sports and Azam Sports ended in a 2-2 draw. Sharief Baloch netted two goals for Mahfoz, while Saleem and Aqeel scored one goal each for Azam Sports. Azam Sports later defeated Mahfoze Sports 5-4 on tie breaker, and qualified for the quarter-finals.

In the sixth match, KMC Green thrashed Young Soldiers 4-2 and reached quarter-finals. Muhammad Zubair scored two goals, while Javed and Imran netted one goal.

Yousuf and Rizwan scored one goal each for Young Soldier. All four quarter-finals will be played on Wednesday.

KARACHI: Sarhad Sports Malir and Lyari Labour qualified for the semi-finals of KMC Day and Night Futsal Championship on Wednesday, 27 Feb 2013.

In the first quarter-final, Sarhad Sports Malir defeated Abdul Khaliq Shaheed Football Club by a big margin of 5-1.

Jamaluddin played dazzlingly and scored a hat-trick. Muhammad Rizwan also played well and netted the ball twice.

In the second quarter-final, Lyari Labour defeated Parwana Sports by 2-0 and reached the semi-finals. Sabir and Naeem scored one goal each.

Meanwhile, in pre-quarter-final matches, Burma Muhamamdan defeated Society Brothers Kemari on tie breaker by 5-4, after the match had ended in a 1-1 draw in the regulation time.

KMC Green lost to Azam Sports 4-2 on tie breaker after their 3-3 stalemate in regulation time. KMC Green took the lead twice, but each time Azam Sports equalised. And when Azam Sports took the lead and time was running out, KMC’s Muhammad Zubair, who has already scored two goals, once again struck to leave the match tied. Naveedullah scored twice and Aqeel Khan scored one goal for Azam Sports.

Later the match was decided on tie breaker. Both semi-finals will be played on Thursday (today).
