Karachi Football Round-up

The All-Pakistan National Bank Peace Football Cup will begin on Friday, 30 November 2012. The opening game sees Karachi Water and Sewerage Board (KWSB) face DFA South at 3 PM at Shaheed Abdur Rehman Baloch Football Ground in Gabol Park, Lyari, Karachi.

The DFA South is organising the 16 team event divided into 4 groups of 4 teams each.

Group A features KWSB, DFA South, DFA Central, and DFA Sukkur. Group B has Sindh Govt Press (SGP), DFA East, DFA Hyderabad, and DFA Khuzdar. Group C has Pak Public Works Dept (PPWD), DFA West, DFA Jacobabad, DFA Panjgur. Group D has Pakistan Navy Gwadar, DFA Malir, DFA Mirpur Khas, and Pakistan Railways.

The even will have each match of 90 minutes with 2 games being held each day. 1st game will be played at 1:30 PM while 2nd game at 3 PM.

Each group winner will qualify for semi-finals with Group A winners facing Group C winners on 13 December, while Group B winners face Group D winners on 14 December. The Cup’s final game will be on 16 December 2012.

The opening game will be attended by Lyari Rabta Committee’s Sania Naz as chief guest. The NBP Peace Cup organising committee includes chairman Ghulam Rasool Gulab Baloch (DFA South President), secretary Jan Muhammad Baloch, with Ikhlaq Baloch as chief organiser.

The Karachi United Football Foundation (KUFF) has announced to hold the 3rd KUFF U15 Youth Football Championship at various venues in Karachi from 16 December onwards. Usmanabad’s Mushtaq Football Academy will be defending champions.

Players born on or after 1 January 1997 are eligible to participate. Karachi United’s 6 academies Lyari, Old Golimar, North Nazimabad, North Karachi, Korangi, and Malir Centres will take part in the 10 team event.

The KUFF U15 Championship winners will be awarded Rs 10,000 prize, with runners-up getting Rs 5,000. The Best Coach will receive Rs 5,000 prize, with awards for Top Scorer, Best Goalkeeper, Fair Play, and Best Discipline also announced.

Teams interested to take part should contact organising secretary Riaz Ahmed and KUFF head coach Arshad Jamal. All players’ B-Forms and physique will be scrutinised to ensure age eligibility. Any decisions will be final and cannot be challenged.
