Nazimabad Sports defeated Rizwan Sports (Federal B Area) 2-0 and moved into second round in inaugural match of All Karachi Saqib Memorial six-a-side Flood-Lit Football Tournament at U.P. Gymkhana Football Ground in North Karachi here on Friday, 12 Oct 2012.
Rizwan Sports started the game brightly, but they faced a firm Nazimabad Sports defence. After a sustaining early pressure, Nazimabad Sports tried to counter attack but Rizwan Sports Goalkeeper Arsal denied them as the score remained a tight 0-0 at half time.
The good pace of the match was maintained by both the teams and Nazimabad Sports struck two quick fire goals from Shahrukh (35′) and Hasnain (40′). Rizwan Sports strove hard to level score but Nazimabad Sports defence and goalkeeper Abdul Basit denied them from finding the net. At final whistle Nazimabad Sports went back to pavilion with 2-0 win and into 2nd round.
Mr. Saad Kazmi National Referee. the younger brother of late Saqib Kazmi was inaugurated the tournament by kicking the ball as chief guest of the game. The Chief Guest announced full support and bears all expenses of the tournament. He also appreciated Organising Secretary Mohammad Hanif, who are making excellent efforts to promote football in District Central.
Also in attendance were Mr. Mohammad Shamim, Vice President of DFA Central, Haji Shamimuddin, Mr. Shabbir (Young Azizabad), Mr. Sadiq Khatri (Friends Club), Waseem Alam (Nishan-e-Haider FC), Mr. Riaz Ahmed, KUFF Admn. & Media Manager and others et al.
Referee Baber Khan while Mohammad Khalid was Match Commissioner. A total of 32 teams are taking part in this knock-out format 6-a-side tournament from across Karachi.
