The Hamara Karachi 7-a-side Football Festival 2012 saw the results of 2 games yesterday, 19 March 2012, at National Soccer Academy Ground in Paposh (Karachi).

Golden Star (New Karachi) beat Frontier City (Banaras) 3-1 while Shah Faisal (Nazimabad) beat Gharib Shah Union (Lyari) 5-2 to qualify for next round.

Golden Star raced to a 3-0 lead thanks to goals from Rehmatullah (22′) and a brace from Muhammad Nabi (28′,33′). Shahid Hussain managed a late consolation for Frontier City in 41st minute as Golden Star won 3-1 to qualify for next round.

Shah Faisal came from 1-2 down at half time to win 5-2 in the end. Taj Muhammad gave Shah Faisal the lead in 3rd minute, only for Ehtisham Uddin to score twice (12′, 16′) to make it 2-1 in favour of Gharib Shah Union by half-time. 2nd half saw Shah Faisal rally hard as Taj Muhammad scored twice more (29′ and 33′) while Amir Shehzad also scored twice (31′ and 34′) to help their side win 5-2 in the end.

Referees were Sabir Baloch, Rauf Baloch, and match commissioner Abdul Karim.

Engro Vopak Football League 2012 will see its quarter-finals stage begin on 24 March 2012 at Jam Stadium, Malir (Karachi).

Group A sees Baloch Mohammadan (Malir), Dilbod Mohammadan (Malir), Irfan Memorial (Landhi), and organisers FC Rovers (Malir Cantt) in the last-8 phase. Group B sees hosts Jam XI (Malir), Azam Sports (Drigh Road, DFA East), Salar Welfare Centre (Malir), and Askani Brothers (Baldia Town) in the last 8.

A grand draw ceremony will be held to decide which side takes on who in quarter-finals. According to tournament organising secretary Riaz Ahmed, the draw will be held on 21 March at DFA Malir office, 7 PM sharp in presence of each club’s representatives.

Quarter-finals will be held on 24-27 March, semis on 28-29 March, 3rd place game on 30 March, while final on 1st April..
