The 2012 All-Karachi Engro Vopak Football League saw Dilbod Mohammadan (Malir) boost their chances of a Top-8 place with a 2-1 win over fellow Group A rivals Young Tughlaq (Lyari) yesterday 28 Feb 2012 at Jam Stadium in Malir (Karachi).
Dilbod Mohammadan took a 12th minute lead through a Young Tughlaq own goal. Adil Mir’s shot rebounded from Young Tughlaq goalkeeper Junaid Afzal and the ball hit defender Abdul Waheed and went into the net to give Dilbod Mohammadan a 1-0 lead.
Dilbod then went 2-0 up when striker Allah Bakhsh scored from a Sunny Ghani pass, but Young Tughlaq responded immediately with a goal from Nazir Ahmed that beat Dilbod goalie M Hashim to make it 2-1 before half time. The score remained the same in 2nd half as Dilbod Mohammadan held on for a precious 3 points.
Referees were Babar Khan, Nabi Bakhsh, Ahmed Mian, Arif Hameed, and match commissioner Abdul Karim. Young Tughlaq’s Muhammad Ayaz was given Man of the Match award worth Rs 500 from ex-international Ashiq Ali (PIA).
The result saw Dilbod Mohammadan complete its 6 match group stage quota to reach 11 points while Young Tughlaq remained on 7 points from 5 games. On Thursday, 1 March 2012, Irfan Memorial face Baloch Mohammadan.
