Al-Shabaz earn tough win in KUFL

The 9th UBL Omni Karachi United Football League (KUFL) 2011-12 saw an intriguing group ‘B’ match between Al-Shabaz (Korangi ) and Baloch Mujahid (Ibrahim Hydri) on Thursday evening.

Al-Shabaz fought hard to record a narrow 1-0 win over their more accomplished rivals to win 3 points at the Baloch Mujahid Stadium Ibrahim Hydri here. The match was decided by a free kick goal from Al-Shabaz ‘s stopper Mohammad Jaffer in the second half. Baloch Mujahid wasted a glorious chance to equalize when they missed a last minute one to one position golden opportunity.

It was a tense 90 minutes of the football. Favourties Baloch Mujahid started well with their strikers M. Hanif, M. Nadeem, Umer Bakhsh and Taj Mohammad. However, Al-Shabaz goal keeper Manzoor Alam denied the opposition numerous chances to to score as the score line remained 0-0 at half time.

In the Second half , Al-Shabaz gathered confidence and put Baloch Mujahid under pressure by playing a fluid 4-3-3 formation Shah Alam expertly played as front runner and combined well which his wingers Fareed Alam and Akhtar Rasheed to trouble Baloch Mujahid’s defences with the passing help of midfielder Abdul Rahman, Janghir Khan and Mohammad Ameen. However, Baloch Mujahid’s goalie M. Ilyas proved to be a brick wall to their efforts.

Finally Mohammad Johar broke the deadlock in the 53rd minute when he taken free kick from 30 yds distance directly went into the net to make Al-Shabaz go 1-0 up.

The goal caused Maloch Mujahid to go on all out attack in response but opposing goalie Manzoor Alam denied Baloch Mujahid various chances to score.

The win helped Al-Shabaz 12 points from 7 games while Baloch Mujahid 6 points from 4 games.

The match was supervised by Referee Ansar Javed, shoukat Ali and Babar Khan with Abdul Karim as the Match Commissioner.
