Pak School Sports Olympics football event begins in Karachi

The Pakistan School Sports Olympics (PSSO-ZU) Inter-School/College Football Event began yesterday at DHA Football Stadium at Khayaban-e-Rahat in DHA Block VI, Karachi. The opening day saw The City School PAF Chapter face DADC Greens in Group ‘B’, while Beaconhouse North Nazimabad faced Bayview High School in Group ‘A’.

City School PAF showed great skill against DADC Greens as the 1-0 scoreline did not do justice to their dominance of the game. Gulab Khan Afridi, Hammad, and Hassu came close to scoring many times for City School PAF, but it was only Hammad found the back of the net against DADC Greens after a superb run of play. During the game, Hassu missed a penalty for City School PAF. The winning side got 3 points as a result of their victory.

Beaconhouse North Nazimabad and Bayview High School played a tense game with some frantic final minutes. Beaconhouse strikers Noman Tahir, Arieb Hassan, Huzaifa, Fasih Baloch, and goalkeeper Atif played superbly throughout the game. A minute before the final whistle, Fasih Baloch scored for Beaconhouse as his side thought it was enough for the win. But Bayview High responded immediately from the restart as Ahmed Khanani stunned Beaconhouse when he equalised with arguably the last play of the game. The result meant both sides shared 1 point each.

On Wednesday, 23 Nov 2011, Southshore face Beaconhouse Jubilee and Lyceum School face City School PAF.
