YRS continue top form in Women Championship

Young Rising Star WFC (Rawalpindi) continued their fine form in 7th National Women Championship 2011 being held at Jinnah Stadium PSB in Islamabad.

Today, 23 Sept 2011, YRS registered a commanding 9-0 victory over Balochistan with hat-tricks from Asmara and star Malaika Noor, and a goal each for Sehar Zaman, Nabila Hashmi, and Mahpara to top Group D with 3 wins out of 3 and go through to next round.

In the other Group D match between Margala WFC and Punjab, Margala failed to show up at the venue on time and forcing the referees to award Punjab a 3-0 walkover. The result confirmed Punjab’s place as 2nd best team in the group as they too qualified for next round.

The third match of the day in Group A, Diya WFC held Islamabad 0-0 and tying them on 4 points from 2 games. The result meant Diya topped the group because of superior goal difference ahead of 2nd place Islamabad as both sides went through to next round while Army was eliminated with 0 points from 2 games.
