Lutfi rewarded for failure and appointed as Head of delegation/Manager for Pakistan v India in England

 

U.F.Tariq Lutfi has been appointed as head of delegation/manager by Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) for upcoming England tour. The other officials are Mr. Gohar Zaman Assistant Manager/Assistant Coach, Mr. Nasir Ismail, Assistant Coach, Mr. Aslam Khan, Goal Keeper Coach and Sardar Naveed Haider, Director Marketing. The team will be comprises of 22 players. The Pakistan Football Team will depart for England on August 29, 2011 and face India in the friendly international match on September 3, 2011 at the Pride Park Ground, Derby which is having 35,000 capacity. The training camp for upcoming England tour will be started from August 19, 2011 in Punjab Stadium at Lahore. This was stated by Lt. Col. ® Ahmed Yar Khan Lodhi, Secretary General PFF in a press briefing held in Football House at Lahore.

It should be remembered here that since taking over as Pakistan coach Tariq Lutfi’s side has been eliminated from the World Cup Qualifiers, the AFC Challenge Cup, the Olympic 2012 Qualifiers, all in the very first round. The team has only managed to score 4 goals in 9 games and won just a single game against Chinese Taipei.

According to the press release issued by the Pakistan Football Federation (PFF), This is the first time in the history that both the archrivals Pakistan and India will face each other on the FIFA International Day on which several countries in the world will also be involved in meeting each other in international friendlies. It is expected that the match shall be graced by a large community of Pakistani living in England which shall greatly boost the moral of our team. The Pakistan football team will also play two practice matches against the local clubs on 5th and 7th September.

Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat, President PFF has great confidence in his team specially after watching U-16 SAFF soccer where Pakistan toppled both India and Maldives. He expects the senior team league shall also do even better than their younger brothers. They shall play like a unit with full spirit and show the world that they are not less than any body. He added.
