GSA D-Goal: Old Fighters, Rebellions through to next round

12th August, Friday the GSA Ramazan D-Goal 2011 tournament kicked back on after a day of rest due to rain. Two more exciting fixtures took place and football of the highest quality was witnessed.

In the first game Rebellions took on the young Cantt Combined team. The first half was a slow show and a stunning Volley from Waqar gave the Cant Combined a surprise lead. The second half saw one way traffic as Kami and Waleed Kidwai (CBM University) combined relentlessly but missed a host of chances before Waleed struck. The tie was short lived as Waqar and Rashid combined three times for a one two and Rashid struck a brilliant goal.

The game was turned around in two minutes as Waleed struck an equalizer before the cool Kami gave Rebellions the lead. The games final kick was an own goal as the unlucky Rebellions drew the game 3-3. The luck was turned around in the penalties as Rebellions came through 2-0, after an excellent game.

The second game was expected to be tough but it took a few moments of genius from the experienced but highly skilled Madni of Kickers who lead Old Fighters to a 5-1 victory over the Young Green. Madni showed why he is regarded highly in Karachi as he tip toed, shimmied, and showed extreme deft touches and his two goals were supported by three more by Shahzad as it was 5-0 at the half.

In the second half it was a different show as Shoukat of Young Greens showed some close and cool control and also struck the lone goal for the Young Greens. 5-1 in favor of the Old Fighters was the final score.
