SSB U14 Cup: Al-Shabaz top Group B; FC Rovers beat City School

The Sindh Sports Board U14 Football Championship, hosted at National Soccer Academy Ground in Paposh (Karachi), saw its group stage reach a conclusion. In Group ‘A’, FC Rovers Academy (Malir) overwhelmed The City School North Nazimabad 3-0, while in Group ‘B’, Al-Shabaz Academy (Korangi) beat National Frontier Academy (Banaras) 2-0 to top its group.

Raziq H. Rabbani, consultant for Sindh Sports Board (SSB), was chief guest for the Al-Shabaz vs National Frontier game. He praised the superb organisation of this youth tournament and offered the Sindh Sports Board’s complete support for the ongoing games, stating that SSB also plans to organise a U16 championship soon to find new emerging talent.

In Group ‘A’, FC Rovers Academy maintained their dominance over City School N. Nazimabad the entire game. Rovers defender Hassan Adil Sheikh was resilient at the back as he marshalled his side’s superb defensive line, as well as scoring a goal for his team. Bilal Fazal and Mehmood Ali also scored for FC Rovers as they won the game 3-0 to finish in 2nd place behind Group ‘A’ winners National Soccer Academy.

In Group ‘B’, Al-Shabaz Academy and National Frontier Academy faced off to decide the group winners. After a 0-0 first half, Al-Shabaz Academy scored twice in 2nd half through Muhammad Usman (24′) and Habib (36′) to win the match 2-0 at the end as well as topping Group ‘B’ standings. Referees were Babar Khan and Farrukh Riaz, while Abdul Karim was match commissioner.

In the semi-finals of SSB U14 Championship, National Soccer Academy face Al-Shabaz Academy in the final on 23 July at 5 PM, while the 3rd place game between group runner-ups Rovers Academy and National Frontier Academy will face the same day at 4 PM at NSA Ground.

The final’s chief guest will be Matanat Ali Khan (Deputy Commissioner, CDGK Central) while Shoaib Ahmed Siddqui (Secretary of Sports & Youth Affairs, Sindh) shall preside over the ceremony.
