Lahore, 24 March: Model Town cut Afshan FC to size with 7-1 win over to enter semi-final of All Punjab Raiders Football Cup 2011 at Raiders Football Club Ground, Faisal Town. Both the teams were introduced to Tariq Mughal, President of Sheikhupura Chamber of Commerce & Industry. Model Town’s coach Khalid Khan dedicated the huge win to Mian Rizwan Ali, the Presidential-candidate of DFA Lahore.
In fact, Model Town staged recovery after conceding the early goal and turned the tide in the second session with international striker Zaheer Abbas getting hat trick with goals in the 11th, 14th and 27th minute of second session. Afshan were the first to settle down with Ali Bajwa getting 12th minute goal but MTFC leveled the issue in the 29th minute through Zain Khalid’s first of the two goals. Score stayed at 1-1 during interval. Asad Ullah steered MTFC 2-1 lead nine minutes after re-start and besides Zaheer’s hat-trick, winners landed goals through Awab Rehman and Zain Khalid (his second) in the 16th and 22nd minute of second session respectively.
