PAF and PEL notch narrow 1-0 wins, Baloch Nushki hold PIA

Lahore, 13 November: Central defender Muhammad Ramzan of Pakistan Navy, who converted penalty kick in the first leg against PEL at Rawalpindi, failed to do so in second leg as PEL managed shaky 1-0 win over them in Pakistan Premier Football League at Model Town Football Academy Ground, Lahore.

In other matches on Saturday, PAF imposed 1-0 win PMC Athletico Club Faisalabad at PMC Football Ground, Faisalabad. Qila Saif Ullah-born Nizam Uddin struck the solitary goal of the match in the 39th minute. It was first goal for Nizam in the league. Baloch FC of Nushki locked 0-0 with PIA at Nushki Football Stadium while Afghan FC/ KPT was postponed at Govt High School, Chaman

PEL, under Muhammad Awais, dominated the first half but missed two point blank chances through striker Muzaffar Ali in the 26th and 37th minute with keeper Muhammad Shahzad no way. Navy fielded Muhammad Basharat, Sajjad Ahmed and Rizwan Tanoli upfront but they failed to create any impression as their reliance was on long range drives. It was 0-0 at interval and the second session saw PEL getting 58th minute goal through midfielder and vice captain Ijaz Sarfraz following right wing surge involving Muhammad Rashid and Muhammad Usman. But Navy missed the golden opportunity of equalizer when Kohat-based Referee Khurram Shahzad penalized PEL keeper Saqib Hanif for a reckless challenge on Basharat, Ramzan, well known for penalty taking, caused sensation when his attempt went over the cross piece.

Navy continued all out pressure and Basharat fed Nomi Martin Gill but one of the hat-trick makers saw his drive took deflection off Saqib and right upright and went into safety. PEL somehow managed to hold onto their slender lead and managed ninth win in securing 30 points. PEL managed to beat Navy twice 2-1, 1-0 in the ongoing League. After the match PEL Director Muhammad Murad Saigol, also PEL player, congratulated the players for hard-earned win and gaining three valuable points.

Saqib, a product of PFF Youth Development Project, played heroic role in the match having represented Pakistan in 13th AFC U16 Championship at Qatar 2007 and 36th U19 Championship at Iran where he was Vice Captain.
