PMC record second win; KPT trounce Navy, PEL held by Afghan

Lahore, 8 October: PMC Athletico Club hit late winner to beat HBL 1-0 at PMC Football Ground, Faisalabad, PEL failed to extend substitute’s goal and drew 1-1 with organized Chaman’s Afghan FC at Model Town Football Academy Ground, Lahore, KPT struck four goals through four different players to overpower Navy 4-1 at Municipal Stadium, Saidpur Road, Satellite Town, Rawalpindi and later on same turf saw, scoreless draw between KRL v NBP as four more matches were decided in Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) 2010.

PMC Athletico Club managed their second win in the competition when they brushed aside HBL 1-0. The all important goal was scored by winger Ahmed Raza in the 77th minute. HBL had also forced opportunities but PMC’s keeper Wasim Akber was equaled to all their attempts. Both the teams, lurking in Relegation zone, completed their seven matches with HBL making two points as compared to PMC’s six.

The exciting PEL-Chaman’s Afghan FC clash saw both the goals in the second session. Under international Jadeed Khan, playing as right winger, Afghan did well to stop PEL from scoring in the first session but second half substitute Riaz Ahmed changed the pace of the match with goal three minutes after re-start, beating keeper Jehangir Khan from close-range. But Afghan went all out in quest of leveler and drew level through a 60th minute set-piece. Jadeed curled the right-wing corner that caused panic in PEl’s defence and winger Fazal Rehman tapped the ball into the path of midfielder Abdul Hadi who drove it past keeper Saqib Hanif. Second in 16-team table before the kick off, Afghan maintained their position and grabbed 17 points in seven matches as compared to PEL’s 11 in as many outings.

1990 NFCC Champion KPT put up memorable display to whip four past Navy defence in 4-1 win. KPT were the first to settle down and struck opener through spearhead Muhammad bin Younus in the 17th minute. But Navy’s opportunist striker Muhammad Basharat reduced the arrears two minutes from intervbal. It was KPT all the way in second session and they struck thrice in regular interval. Left full and skipper Akhter Mamil utilized 57th minute penalty kick to give KPT lead for the second time and it was left to young winger Jalal Uddin and striker Zahid Ahmed to complete the rout with goals in the 67th and 86th minute respectively. It was seventh match for both teams who are still looking for their first national title. Portmen managed 16 points while seamen had six. KRL, with several key players in Camp, once again failed to find a proper hitman and drew 0-0 with NBP. KRL secured ten points from seven matches while same number of matches produced seven points for NBP.
