PEL, Navy, KRL earn hard-fought wins

Lahore, 17 October: Four more matches are being decided in Pakistan Premier Football League 2010. PEL struck injury time clincher to beat KPT 2-1 at Model Town Football Academy Ground, Lahore. PEL opened the scoring in the 22nd minute through striker Muhammad Riaz who raced onto Saad Ullah’s defence-splitting pass to beat keeper Sajid Hussain all ends up.

But first half injury time provided KPT the equaliser when PEL stopper Akhter Ali tripped KPT’s Muhammad Waseem and the resultant penalty, given by Referee Shafaat Habib , saw KPT skipper and central defender Akhtar Mamol slammed the ball into left corner giving Saqib Hanif no chance . It was 1-1 at interval and match winning goal appeared in the injury time when midfielder Muhammad Bilawal unleahed powerful 35 metre dive past Sajid’s left hand.

PMC Athletico Club drew 1-1 with NBP at PMC Ground, Faisalabad. The bankers managed 35th seconds goal – the quickest of the event – through Muhammad Ashfaq but PMC staged quick recovery and made it 1-1 in the tenth minute through Muhammad Qais.

KRL earned hard-fought 1-0 win over HBL at Municipal Stadium, Saidpur Road, Satellite Town, Rawalpindi. The lone goal scorer was Abid Ghafoor in the 51st minute. Later on in same venue, Navy struck twice in first half to beat Afghan FC 2-1. Naveed Ahmed and Asif Bakhsh struck for the seamen in the 7th and 24th minute respectively while Afzal Ur Rehman replied for Afghan seven minutes from time.
