KRL, PEL, Navy, Afghan earn victories [POINTS TABLE]

Lahore, 10 October: Afghan FC, KRL, Pakistan Navy and PEL earned victories in tight matches of Pakistan Premier Football League (PPFL) 2010 on Punjab territories. Faisalabad’s PMC Athletico Club suffered 0-1 defeat at the hands of visiting Afghan FC at PMC Ground, Faisalabad. The all important match winner was scored by striker Najib Khan in the 82nd minute.

Saad Ullah returned from field as hero as PEL managed 2-1 win over ten-men HBL at Model Town Football Academy Ground, Lahore. The hard tackling match converted the bankers into ten-men when Kharan-born referee Sattar Badini, declared Best Referee of previous edition, lifted Red Card infront of HBL’s midfielder Abid Hussain for a reckless 49th minute challenge on PEL’s stopper Asif Javed just outside the area. The match was sweetly-balanced 1-1 at interval .

Fast-moving Chaman-born striker Saad Ullah gave PEL the lead in the 18th minute when he side stepped host of defenders before tapping the ball into left corner as keeper Syed Dilawar Hussain wondered where his cover might be. Six minutes later, HBL midfielder Abdullah fumbled sitter when keeper Saqib Hanif was at his mercy. Abdullah, also of Chaman, made amends for his earlier mistake to make it 1-1 in the 29th minute when Referee penalized Asif Javed for hand ball infringement following Abid’s corner and immediately pointed to the spot. Abdullah , with full-blooded drive, gave no chance to Saqib.

Saad Ullah did the work of assist too when PEL clinched the match through 90th minute decider. His cross from left caused panic in bankers area, ball popped out of Dilawar during goal mouth scramble and Faisalabad-born muscular substitute Muzaffar Ali was on hand to smash the ball in.

KRL recorded their third win in eight matches when they overwhelmed KPT 1-0 at Municipal Stadium, Saidpur Road, Satellite Town, Rawalpindi. Faisalabad-born Muhammad Shahid, playing as wing full back, was instrumental in giving three full points to KRL with 70th minute goal.

The same pitch saw Haripur-born 21-years-old Rizwan getting the applause from his officials and players as Navy slammed closing minutes clincher to beat NBP 2-1. It was Navy’s second win the competition with Rizwan scoring twice in the 6th and 87th minute. NBP’s scorer was Adil Ahmed in the 21st minute as half time score was 1-1. Rizwan’s contribution also helped him to become Navy’s best scorer in the event – scoring two of seamen’s five goals so far. There will be no match on Monday.
