‘Football for Peace’ in FATA, other affected areas

ISLAMABAD: President Pakistan Football Federation (PFF) Makhdoom Faisal Saleh Hayat said that the federation would provide football coaching to more than 2,000 youth every year in the terrorism-affected areas of FATA, NWFP and Balochistan.

Addressing at a news conference here on Wednesday, president PFF Faisal Saleh Hayat said that to promote football in the areas affected by terrorism, a programme ‘Football for Peace’ is being launched under which the players would be provided training of the game besides education facilities.

He said that the high commissions of the United States and the European countries would cooperate with monetary assistance for this programme.

The PFF president said that the AFC ahs offered to hold the youth qualifying round in Pakistan for which the federation requires the government cooperation and Rs 20 million.

Faisal Saleh Hayat said that the government has approved the grant of Rs 20 million for the PFF while the federation needs further Rs 60 million for the activities during the next year.

He said that the FIFA’s fourth goal post project would be given to Quetta and the fifth project would be awarded to Islamabad.
