Bari expresses surprise over baseless news

Khanewal will stage PFF event in befitting manner Lahore, 25 June : Punjab Football Referees Association’s General Secretary Mian Abdul Bari has contradicted a news item which appeared in a section of the press on other day against present set-up of Pakistan Football Federation (PFF). “It is a figment of someone’s imagination who is sabotaging football in Pakistan. It is a deliberate campaign to malign the image of my career as footballer, FIFA Referee and organizer,” said Bari who was in FIFA list from 1996 – 2004.
He categorically denied remarks attributed to “There is no reality in such news and these stories are baseless.” There is no doubt that PFF’s President Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat had changed the fortune of Pakistan football and I had not given any statement against him. His four-year career as PFF Chief is remarkable and due to his advise PFF had given their precious event to Khanewal which will commence on 27 June, Wednesday.”

He added that we are grateful to Pakistan Football Federation (PFF)’s President Makhdoom Syed Faisal Saleh Hayat who is spreading soccer in far-flung areas of Pakistan and the office-bearers of Khanewal District FA and affiliated clubs are thankful to him for picking a small city of Khanewal for the 6th National U15 Championship . It will be first time that Khanewal will arrange the national-level event of PFF, thanks mainly to Faisal Saleh Hayat. “The chief guest of the final will be Punjab Governor Lt General (R) Khalid Maqbool in glittering closing ceremony on 7 July 2007 . The event will promote soccer in South Punjab and new talent will erupt from surrounding areas of Khanewal. District Khanewal’s Nazim Sardar Ahmad Yar Hiraj and DCO Major ® Shakil Ahmed, as Patron in Chief and Patron respectively, are taking great interest alongwith District Khanewal’s Naib Nazim Peer Ahmed Nadeem Bodla who will be the President of Organizing Committee. We will arrange the event in befitting manner and make it a historical event,” concluded Bari who will act as organizing Secretary of the event.
